Who am I?

Hi, I’m Dr. Mahip Rathore.

I’m a psychologist, meditation teacher, and former lawyer dedicated to helping people feel more connected — to themselves, to their partners, and to something deeper. Originally from central India, I now live in Amherst, MA, where I offer mindfulness-based coaching and therapy-informed support to individuals, couples, and groups.

My path has taken me from courtrooms to counseling rooms, from intellectual rigor to spiritual depth. Along the way, I’ve earned a PhD in Counseling Psychology, trained in Vipassana meditation, and studied Advaita Vedanta with a direct disciple of Swami Chinmayananda. My work centers around mindfulness — not just as a calming technique, but as a profound way of seeing yourself clearly, navigating difficulty with wisdom, and relating with compassion.

I draw from research on metacognition, emotional resilience, and self-transcendence, as well as my own lived experience of healing, growth, and inner stillness.
