In returning to my family home in India, I came face to face with the conditioning I carry—between the rigidity of patriarchy and the self-erasure of caretaking. As these inherited roles revealed themselves within me, I also touched something deeper: a warm, unconditioned presence that existed before identity, duty, or resistance. This reflection explores how these parts live in us, how culture and family shape them, and how it is possible to meet them with awareness without becoming them.
